Extremely high temperature field developments are a hot topic in the Gulf of Mexico. The objective of this presentation is to share with the technical community a portfolio of solutions for thermal insulation of subsea structures and flow lines for operating temperatures above 350F. Particular focus is placed on the development process of such challenging coating systems, from material supply to qualification for servicing the oil and gas industry. Materials themselves are not enough to guarantee reliable performance when applied as thermal insulation systems. A deep knowledge of the application process is required to exploit synergies between process and materials and to create new solutions for the market combining the strong characteristics of different materials for different functions. XTremeTemp350, the object of the presentation, is the novel product line developed by Shawcor to support clients in harsh conditions.
XtremeTemp CC: Reliable Performance at High Temperatures
Ensuring uninterrupted flow of production fluids in offshore environments, from reservoir to topside, and throughout the life of the field, is the main objective of the Flow Assurance (FA) discipline. This is applicable to pipelines and also to Subsea Production Systems (SPS) such as Christmas trees, manifolds, jumpers and spools, among others. Different FA strategies are implemented to reach such goal, thermal management (e.g. use of thermal insulation) being one of them. Read more
