Shawcor celebrated a major milestone in style as its President and CEO, Steve Orr and the management team rang the bell to open the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) on Wednesday, October 16, 2019. This ceremonial bell ringing, which took place at the Exchange Tower in the heart of Toronto’s downtown business district, commemorated Shawcor’s 50th anniversary as publicly traded company on Canada’s largest exchange.
"Ringing the bell at the TSX is an honor and a remarkable way to celebrate our 50th anniversary—a milestone that very few companies ever achieve,” said Steve Orr, President and CEO. “I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our employees, investors, suppliers and the communities in which we operate who have supported Shawcor over the last 50 years.”
When Mr. Shaw listed the company on the Toronto Exchange in 1969, the company operated two divisions, the Pipe Protection Division and the Manufacturing Division, with nine plants and over 300 employees located across Canada. Since then, Shawcor has grown in size and strength to become a globally recognized integrated energy services company. Today, Shawcor operates in over 80 locations across 19 countries with over 6,000 employees—all of whom help drive Shawcor’s success in the markets we serve.
Shawcor’s longevity and sustainable growth can be directly linked to the company’s talented employees as well as its values-based culture and its intense focus on technology and innovation. Even during the early years of its operations, Shawcor’s management stressed the importance of developing unique, highly differentiated products and solutions.
