On December 5, 2019, LotusFloTM was selected as a recipient of the R&D 100 Awards for innovation in the Mechanicals/Materials category. The award was presented during the R&D 100 conference in San Mateo, California, where various representatives from the engineering, science and technology fields and esteemed academic programs gathered to celebrate the 2019 winners. Dina Nicola, Product Line Technical Lead for Shawcor, received the award on behalf of the development team.
The R&D 100 program was established over 50 years ago with the purpose to identify and acknowledge the top 100 revolutionary technologies during the year with significant research and development advancements. The awards are selected by a group of R&D Magazine’s elite judges from various industries.
LotusFloTM is the latest innovative addition to Shawcor’s product portfolio. The product is a type of Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) internal coating, which was developed over 10 years, but has been recently commercialized to serve the Oil & Gas industry, specifically to limit or even eliminate the deposition of inorganic and organic solids such as scale, asphaltene and wax in down-hole tubulars and flowlines. Shawcor is honored to be amongst the 100 recipients of the award. This complements the hard work of our product management and operations teams under the leadership of Lee Evans, VP of Mobile Technologies Group.
