Located approximately 85 kilometers offshore Brazil, the Peregrino Phase II project will increase recoverable reserves by 273 million for Equinor.
In the first phase of development, two Wellhead Platforms (WHP-A and WHP-B) and a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit were installed and will provide production processing facilities for the entire field. Phase II of the development targets the South and Southwest structures, and involves a new platform connecting to an FPSO via subsea tie-ins to the pipelines near an existing wellhead platform. This will increase the number of production wells in the area currently not reachable by WHP-A and WHP-B.
Backed by our proven track record of project management excellence, Shawcor was selected to provide anti-corrosion and thermal insulation coatings on 96 kilometers of pipe. The scope of the project included carrying out the plant commissioning and validation in less than seven months. ULTRA Foam was the coating technology selected for the project as it provided the most thermally effective and cost-competitive solution compared to other coating alternatives.
The ULTRA Foam also provided an additional benefit to our customer by reducing the number of vessel trips required to install the pipeline.
The project was successful, ensuring unmatched, accident-free execution and on-time shipment of coated pipelines.
