Shawcor is honored to be the recipient of a 2019 TC Energy CEO Safety Leadership Award. Announced on May 4 during TC Energy’s week-long Safety & Health celebration, these awards recognize individuals, teams and contractors for their actions aligned with the organization’s core value of safety.
Shawcor’s Pipeline Performance facilities in Camrose, Alberta and Regina, Saskatchewan were commended for their outstanding performance during inspection and remediation activities for the Keystone XL pipeline. The scope of this highly complex refurbishment project ran from June 2018 until final inspection in September 2019.
The award selection follows formal endorsements by TC Energy employees who nominate those who have demonstrated exemplary safety knowledge, innovation and cultivation of safety culture for a chance to be recognized.
“Shawcor does not shy away from a job when asked to perform a task, even when it’s outside of its core business. Shawcor welcomed a scope of work that can only be described as a first of its kind for both TC Energy and Shawcor. They retrofitted their facilities to ensure they could accommodate a unique ask with safety at the forefront of their operations.
With worker safety as a primary focus, Shawcor understood the inherent risks and dangers of working in a mechanized facility and coordinating the movement of heavy lengths of pipe and equipment. Shawcor successfully mitigated these challenges through constant planning, collaboration and communication with the inspection program team, and through continuous evaluation and improvements of their systems.
A collaboration prioritizing the well-being of those involved with the project is a pivotal contributor to the success of this Inspection and Remediation program.” - Jared Wharton, Project Manager, TC Energy
Shawcor is proud to be recognized by one of its most important customers for the company’s continuous commitment to safety. Congratulations to the teams involved for embodying the Shawcor values in all you do.
