HomeNorth America Onshore Fayetteville Shale

Fayetteville Shale

The Fayetteville Shale is an unconventional gas reservoir which extends across northern Arkansas within the Arkoma basin. Activity in the area began in 2002, increasing dramatically between 2005 and 2012, but has since slowed in recent years. Ranging in thickness from 50 to 500 feet and varying in depth from 1,500 to 6,500 feet, the Mississippian-age shale play is estimated to have 13,240 billion cubic feet of unproved, technically recoverable gas.
