At Shawcor, the safety of our workforce is our top priority and responsibility. We believe there is a safe way to perform every job, and we practice effective teamwork, communication and risk identification to prevent injury. Our risk-based approach to safety ensures all hazards are identified and assessed for risk, and that appropriate controls are put into place to prevent harm. The Shawcor Health, Safety and Environment Management System is based on OSHAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, ISO 19011:2002 Guidelines for Quality and/or Environmental Management Systems Auditing, and ISO 31010:2009 Risk Assessment Techniques. Shawcor facilities adhere to ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems requirements.

Shawcor is committed to providing a workplace that is safe and healthy for all employees, visitors and neighbors. Further, protection of the environment figures prominently in all business decisions. The Company's commitment to employee safety is promoted through our Incident and Injury Free (IIF) philosophy. The Shawcor Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSEMS) is designed to provide consistent guidance and instruction to our global operations. This system meets or exceeds all international standards and may be considered best in class. The HSEMS is fully integrated within our global operations and relies on engineering controls, documented minimum standards and personnel behavior to achieve an IIF workplace.

Shawcor, and all other divisions of ShawCor Ltd, are governed by, and adhere to, Shawcor's Corporate HSE Policy.

Shawcor HSE Management System

The Shawcor HSE Management System documents the company HSE in the following ways:

  • Level 1 sets leadership expectations and management actions required to achieve HSE goals
  • Level 2 provides technical direction for health, safety and environment systems
  • Level 3 defines specific operating requirements incorporating local regulatory requirements for each location

Using Level 2 directions, each production facility should develop Level 3 specific operating requirements incorporating local regulatory requirements.

The following depicts the relationship between the various levels of the HSEMS:
